Carolina Eye Associates, a medical and surgical eye care practice headquartered in Southern Pines, announced its acquisition of Covington Eye Clinic effective January 2017. Established in 1978 by Drs. Al and Don Covington, the practice specializes in comprehensive eye care for all ages and features a state-of-the-art optical shop.
Gregory Mincey, M.D., president of Carolina Eye Associates stated, “We are excited to bring together two top quality, long-established eye care practices to deliver the best vision care for patients and the communities we serve.” The merger will allow Covington Eye Clinic to expand its patient resources while offering Carolina Eye the opportunity to further serve the people of Richmond and Anson and the surrounding counties.
“We are excited at the opportunity to join forces with a company that matches our philosophy of providing patient-centered care,” said Al Covington, O.D. “We are both successful companies today. Together we are well-positioned to deliver a full range of high-quality vision and eye health services to the local community.”
The acquisition includes the Rockingham and Wadesboro locations. Both Al and Don Covington, O.D. will continue with the practice under its new ownership, along with the practice staff. “We expect the integration to be seamless to our patients and they will have the same access to the high standard of care they have come to expect and trust,” said Don Covington, O.D.
