Rockingham Optometrist
Al Covington, O.D. specializes in primary eye care and surgical co-management. His specialty covers the medical treatment of diseases and disorders affecting the eyes, pre- and postoperative patient care management and comprehensive eye exams. Dr. Covington attended Elon University in Elon, N.C. where he majored in Biology.
He received his doctor of optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. and is a member of the American Optometric Association and North Carolina Optometric Society.
An active member of the community, Dr. Covington is a member of both the Rockingham and Wadesboro Rotary Clubs. He serves on the Board of Trustees for Richmond Community College, Richmond Community College Foundation and the Cole Foundation. In 2024, the Richmond Community College Foundation honored him with the Citizen of the Year award. He is also on the Advisory Board of Four Oaks Bank. He has been named Rotarian of the Year, Citizen of the Year by the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce and is a Paul Harris Fellow.

Dr. Covington and his wife, Pat, have three daughters and seven grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
